Description
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous experience or NRA-affiliation and is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end – 8 to 9 hours of private instruction. This course teaches the knowledge and skills necessary for owning and using a pistol safely and effectively. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training ensuring proper shooting technique and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Most pistols are compatible with our Digital Training System as an added bonus. The goal of this course is to have the student become proficient in all aspects of handguns from safety to shooting and everything in between. It is private training for up to 4 students. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, receive an NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course completion certificate as well as a course completion certificate from Safe Family Defense bearing the signature of your NRA Certified Instructor.
A Gear Pack that includes a pistol, holster, eye and ear protection is available for $10. Ammo is not included, but is available for purchase. We carry 9mm and .22LR.
Class Length: Typically 8 hours. It can be broken up into multiple sessions.
