One of the reasons I decided to get into the concealed weapons permit training business is because I repeatedly witnessed and heard about individuals getting their permits through classes that substantially fell short of impressing upon their students the importance of using proper gear and engaging in the right practices.
I continue to hear stories of permit holders, mostly in their 20’s, that have no respect for basic rules like the use of a proper holster or even using a holster at all.
Not Toys
Guns are not toys, they are lethal tools. Unless a pistol is properly stored in its safe, they should be in a holster of some sort that covers the trigger guard and preferably on a proper gun belt on one’s person. Never just stuffed in the waistband of your pants without a holster. Not following this simple rule could very likely end with a bullet to the femoral artery, or, worse yet, the reproductive organs. It could also end in someone nearby being shot or seriously injured.
But, here’s the kicker. If these individuals are not adhering to the most basic fundamentals of responsible carry practices, I can guarantee you they are not engaging in daily dry fire and draw drills. You can only imagine how that will turn out should a real self-defense incident arise.

If this is you, please put the gun away until you get the proper gear required for responsible concealed carry practices. And if you feel the need to let others know that you are carrying concealed, just stop carrying altogether until you mature enough to do it responsibly. It’s called concealed for a reason.
